CNOOC expands LNG fleet with delivery of “Green Energy Star” and “Green Energy Moon

Must read

On September 26, CNOOC delivered two large liquefied natural gas carriers, “Green Energy Star” and “Green Energy Moon,” under its mid- to long-term FOB LNG transport project in Changxing Island, Shanghai.

The vessels joined the company’s “Green Energy” fleet. The delivery follows the commissioning of “Green Energy Ying” in May 2024 and “Green Energy Pearl” in December 2024.

The first two ships received the “Green Ship Award” from Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority in 2024 and 2025.

The newly delivered carriers each measure 299 meters in length, 46.4 meters in width and 26.25 meters in depth, with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters of LNG—enough to supply seven million households for one month.

They were built on the “Changheng series” LNG ship design developed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard and are equipped with an advanced propulsion system, the latest cargo containment and reliquefaction technology.

CNOOC stated that their carbon emissions are 15 years ahead of International Maritime Organization standards and that the ships can reach 120 LNG terminals across all continents.
