This week container shipping rates fell by 5% compared to the previous one, reaching 1669 dollars per FEU.
Rates on Shanghai – Los Angeles decreased by 5%, to 2916 dollars per FEU, while on Shanghai – New York they fell by 2%, to 3200 dollars per FEU.
On Asia – Europe, freight rates recorded the tenth consecutive weekly reduction. On Shanghai – Rotterdam, values decreased by 7%, to 1613 dollars per FEU, while on Shanghai – Genoa they fell by 9%, to 1804 dollars per FEU.
Carriers are announcing new blank sailings with the aim of reducing offered capacity and counterbalancing the physiological drop in demand during the Chinese Golden Week celebrations.
