Andy Barrons, Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President at Navis, has answered questions about what approach the container shipping technology company is taking towards digital issues within its industry.
The one-on-one interview,part of a series filmed at Port Technology’s Container Terminal Automation Conference(#CTAC2018), has revealed how recent developments (timestamped below)are influencing how Navis connects its software components.
Barrons also explained thatindustry weaknesses regarding cybersecurity, which were uncovered after cyberattacks such as NotPetya in 2017, would encourage more investment across the industry into system security.
While speaking about Navis’ involvement in shaping maritime technology at ports, Barrons said: “What we’re doing is using software to enable more synchronized planning.
“From the stowage planning process through to the yard planning process and the berth window planning process, what we’re working on is really connecting those so as you’re doing that planning process you can see the impact downstream on your yard plan, for example.”
