COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers, part of the China COSCO Shipping Corporation is expanding its fleet of semi-submersible heavy lift giants. The company has signed a shipbuilding contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International for a newbuild “Super X” vessel.
The 65,000 dwt semi-submersible heavy lift vessel will boost COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers fleet to 10 such units once delivered in early 2024. The 231-metre long vessel has a 192-metre long and 46 metres wide cargo deck.

The order follows the delivery of Xiang An Kou, another semi-submersible heavy lift vessel in June last year as well as the ninth semi-sub, the 80,000 dwt Xin Yao Hua adding further to the world’s largest fleet of modern purpose-built semi-submersible heavy lift vessels, according to COSCO.
