Princess Cruises offered refunds to passengers booked for Coral Princess’s
current voyage
Around 100 passengers and crew aboard Coral Princess tested positive for COVID-19 when she arrived in Brisbane from Port Douglas on Sunday.
Princess Cruises offered refunds to passengers booked to sail the same day on a 12-day round cruise to Eden, Newcastle, Airlie Beach, Cairns, Port Douglas and Willis Island, returning to Brisbane July 22.
The 2,000-passenger ship arrives in Sydney on Wednesday.
COVID protocols in place
Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said COVID-19 protocols were in place onboardbefore the outbreak.
Coral Princess was the first ship to homeport at the new A$177m Brisbane International Cruise Terminal at the mouth of the Brisbane River on June 7.
SVP Asia Pacific Stuart Allison said her homeport season in Brisbane is expected to inject around A$60m into Queensland’s economy.
