The state owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation accounts for nearly sixty per cent of
the cargo handled by the Cochin port. The Port handled nearly twenty million
tons of crude to be processed by the BPCL refinery situated near the port
BPCL is the largest shipper for the Cochin port where huge investments were made to facilitate transshipment traffic. But transshipment is yet to pick up from the port though the facility was commissioned nearly 12 years ago.
BPCL has received the award for excellence in business performance in cargo handling
at Cochin port for the year 2021-22
