The Government of Amazonas, through the State Tourism Company of Amazonas, Amazonastur, received this Monday (24/11), the first cruise of the 2025 season at the Port of Manaus. The MS Insignia ship arrives in the state with 609 passengers and 339 crew members, totaling 1.2 thousand people on board. The vessel will make its first stop in the community of Boca da Valéria, in Parintins, before proceeding to the capital, starting the program that will run until April 2026.
For this season, six ships are expected, which should bring 4,043 passengers and 2,353 crew members. In total, 6,396 visitors will pass through the Boca da Valéria community, Parintins, and Manaus throughout the program.
The president of Amazonastur, Marcel Alexandre, states that the arrival of the cruises increases the destination’s visibility and reinforces the government’s work to strengthen tourism. “The state has been working to guarantee infrastructure and good reception conditions. The season boosts the local economy, drives services, and values the communities, in addition to showing the world the beauty of Amazonas.”
According to Amazonastur, the international tourists arriving in Amazonas during the cruise season are expected to generate a relevant economic impact. The estimate is for direct revenue close to 260 thousand dollars, which corresponds to approximately R$ 1.38 million. The indirect revenue is expected to reach R$ 6.93 million, totaling an expected movement of R$ 8.31 million in the state’s economy.
In the /2025 maritime cruise season, 60% of international visitors came from the United States. Next were tourists from the United Kingdom, with 21%, from Canada, with 10%, from Australia, with 3%, and from Germany, with 1.2%.
The tourist satisfaction index reached 89.91. The evaluation is based on infrastructure items, services, and attractions available to visitors. The natural attractions were the highlight, with 99.13% approval.
Many tourists pointed to contact with nature as the main reason for the trip, with an emphasis on sightseeing tours, trails, wildlife and flora observation, and river activities. The experience of connection with the forest and the state’s waters was cited as a differential that reinforces the image of Amazonas as a tourist destination.
