Must read

On July 9, Dalian COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry held the naming ceremony for the 85,000-ton new-generation multipurpose vessel “CSPC PEARL” (N1184), built for CITIC Financial Leasing and COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers. This vessel is the third ship in the fourth-generation upgraded series of multipurpose pulp carriers developed by Dalian COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry and currently stands as the world’s largest specialized pulp carrier.

Representatives from Metsä Group, CITIC Financial Leasing, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, China Classification Society Dalian Branch, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute, CITIC Bank Dalian Branch, Qingdao Ocean Hua Lin International Ship Management, Beijing COSCO SHIPPING Ship Trading, and Dalian COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry attended the naming ceremony. Zhang Chi, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, was present, and Ms. Chen Hong officiated as the vessel’s sponsor.

The “CSPC PEARL” has an overall length of 225 meters, a beam of 36 meters, a depth of 21 meters, and a structural draft of 14.5 meters, with a range of 25,000 nautical miles. Its box-shaped cargo holds are equipped with dehumidifiers to ensure the quality and safety of pulp cargo. Beyond pulp transportation, the vessel can also carry high-speed rail trains, wind power equipment, large machinery, and oversized/heavy steel pipe piles. It features a cargo hold water spray system and “foldable car carrier frames,” along with a dedicated “one-to-one” temperature monitoring and early warning system for new energy vehicles. Combining superior cargo adaptability, cost-efficiency, reliability, and energy-saving environmental features, it is currently the world’s largest new-generation multipurpose vessel and specialized pulp carrier.

Additionally, the ship achieved zero carbon emissions during construction, earning a carbon-neutral evaluation certificate from the China Classification Society, making it an eco-friendly, intelligent green vessel.

After delivery, the “CSPC PEARL” will embark on its maiden voyage from a Chinese port to destinations including Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers currently owns and operates over 180 vessels of various types, with its specialized fleet ranking among the world’s largest and most capable. In recent years, the company has introduced more than 60 multipurpose vessels ranging from 62,000 to 85,000 tons, continuously expanding its fleet capacity and operational capabilities.

Looking ahead, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers will uphold its “specialized” development strategy, deepen its expertise in niche cargo markets, and strive toward the goal of “transporting whatever is built, and delivering the best service possible,” providing global clients with professional, efficient, and high-quality end-to-end logistics solutions.
