The president: “We must broaden our horizons by also looking at Turkey”
Rome – “The introduction of tariffs in international trade always produces negative repercussions, which are fully understood only in the medium to long term. However, I believe this situation has produced a positive element, namely the debate that has opened up to overcome Italian and European critical issues in order to limit the damage that tariffs may cause.” This was stated by Carlo De Ruvo, President of Confetra, the Italian General Confederation of Transport and Logistics.
According to De Ruvo, potential markets exist, and Europe, but especially Italy, must take advantage of them: “We can no longer look only to the Atlantic Alliance but must broaden our horizons toward Asia, first and foremost, without forgetting Turkey, which is growing by over 3% annually, and Mercosur. All this represents an even more interesting opportunity if we look at the product categories most in demand by these countries, as they are those in which Italy excels: special-purpose machinery, electrical appliances, transport vehicles, and luxury goods.
