GENOA – The 17th edition of Port&ShippingTech – International Conference opens on Wednesday, October 15th, with the traditional Special Night, an invitation-only networking evening aimed at celebrating the twinning with the Naples Shipping Week.
Port&ShippingTech – International Conference will continue on Thursday, October 16th and Friday, October 17th with two days of thematic conferences at the Congress Center of the Porto Antico in Genoa.
“Decarbonization and Energy Efficency” is the title of the conference to be held on October 17th (9:30 AM – 1:00 PM) at the Porto Antico Congress Center in Genoa, Scirocco room.
Decarbonization and, more generally, the reduction of the environmental impact of maritime logistics are now one of the main drivers of development for the fleets of the largest and most specialized shipowners. It is not only about reducing climate-altering emissions from the funnels, but also about reducing the energy consumption related to the propeller, the immersed hull, and the superstructures. A further objective concerns the ability of ships to leave the least possible trace of their passage, from the management of onboard waste to the treatment of ballast water. Similar challenges, albeit with different parameters, also arise at the port level, where the environmental impact is significant and requires specific interventions, especially in “city ports,” which represent the vast majority of Italian ports.
