Must read

Ocean services provider DeepOcean has entered a two-year time charter agreement with Norwegian offshore support vessel (OSV) supplier Simon Møkster for the Stril Server multi-purpose support vessel

Chartering Stril Server will boost DeepOcean’s offerings in the offshore renewables and oil and gas industries. The vessel will provide subsea inspection, maintenance, and repair, light construction and recycling services to DeepOcean’s customers in these segments.

DeepOcean chief executive Øyvind Mikaelsen commented, “We are experiencing increased demand for our specialist subsea services from the offshore industries, and this vessel charter will allow us to further expand our offering.”

Stril Server will be equipped with two Kystdesign ROVs together with DeepOcean’s dedicated infrastructure, allowing for remote operations from the company’s operations centre in Haugesund, Norway.

The charter contract commences Q1 2023, keeping the vessel employed until the end of 2024. DeepOcean has an option to extend the contract and a further option to request the installation of a battery-hybrid system on board the vessel in 2024.

Mr Mikaelsen added, “We have set a target to reduce our CO2 emissions by 45% by 2030. Collaborating with shipowners such as Simon Møkster Shipping, who is willing to modernise its fleet to drive down operating expenditure and harmful emissions to air, is a key part of this strategy.”
