The Canal Galheta Dredging Consortium (CCGD), formed by DEME and FTS Participações Societárias S.A. (FTS), secured a 25-year contract to operate, maintain, and expand the marine access channel to the Port of Paranaguá, Brazil’s second-largest public port in the state of Paraná, DEME said in a statement.
The tender was launched by Brazil’s National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) as part of a strategic initiative to manage the port’s marine access channel. The Port of Paranaguá is a key logistics hub for agribulk, containers, and liquid bulk cargo, making this concession a central element in Brazil’s maritime transport system.
Under the concession, CCGD will maintain, operate, and deepen the channel, increasing its permissible draft from 13.3 meters to 15.5 meters. The deepening works will allow larger vessels to access the port, increasing cargo capacity and efficiency while ensuring safe and continuous navigation. The consortium will also manage nautical signaling and beacons.
Administrative procedures will follow before the formal signing of the 25-year concession agreement. DEME’s share of the contract represents a value of more than 300 million euros.
DEME Group is a Belgian engineering and contracting company specializing in dredging, marine infrastructure, offshore energy, and environmental remediation.
