As official Human Capital Management (HCM) sponsors for LISW25, Ocean Technologies Group (OTG) and Lloyd’s Register OneOcean (OO), have released details of their HCM Forum, taking place Wednesday 17 September, during the weeklong global conference.
As the shipping industry accelerates its path to net-zero, the shift to alternative fuels and technologies is transforming operational requirements and with it, the expectations placed on seafarers.
The HCM Forum brings together global leaders, innovators, regulators, and frontline practitioners for two connected sessions to offer valuable insights into how the sector can prioritise the human element and collaborate at scale to support a safe and equitable green transition.
The first session spotlights the global push to ensure seafarers are prepared for the transition to net-zero. Hosted by the UN Global Compact, ITF, and ICS, this session covers the work of the Maritime Just Transition Task Force established to help shape the regulatory shifts, guidance and collaborative frameworks shaping the future of training and safety in a changing fuel and technology landscape.
The second session, hosted by Lloyd’s Register, shifts focus to the strategic and technological levers of Human Capital Management, which has emerged as a practical, data-driven approach to managing the complexity of effectively managing people in the maritime industry’s rapidly evolving landscape. Industry leaders will share how they are applying practical HCM solutions, including digital learning platforms, AI-driven workforce insights, and integrated systems, to drive safety, compliance, efficiency, and crew wellbeing.
The sessions will feature participation from a wide range of industry leaders from the sectors of maritime HR, shipmanagement, and training.
The HCM Forum will be held Wednesday, 17 September 2025, from 14:30-17:30, at the Lloyd’s Register Building, Fenchurch Street, London. For more information, please visit the LISW25 Events Calendar.
