Bulk carrier OCEAN AMAZING suffered engine failure early Apr 15 in Taiwan Strait off Taichung, Taiwan, while ballasting from Ningbo to Manila, and started to drift towards Taiwan coast. AHS tug SALVAGE RIGGER (IMO 9246437) was assigned to bulk carrier to nearest port, Taichung. On Apr 17 tug tried to take bulk carrier on tow and commence towage, but ship’s generator failed, and OCEAN AMAZING was unable to heave up anchor. Technicians team had to board bulk carrier, to fix generator. Towage has been commenced on Apr 18, but was hampered by adverse weather. OCEAN AMAZING was towed into Taichung harbor in the afternoon Apr 20, and berthed. As of Apr 22, the ship remained in the same position.
