A DISNEY cruise ship port call to Dorset has been cancelled.

The Disney Fantasy ship was due to call into Portland Port on Sunday, September 14 but its itinerary has replaced UK calls with visits to Norway and Belgium.

Its time of arrival to the Dorset port was due to be 6.30am, with passengers expected to head out on excursions to locations such as nearby Weymouth or Stonehenge in Wiltshire.

But due to ‘challenging weather patterns currently affecting the west coast of the United Kingdom’, the vessel’s route has been adjusted, a message to passengers said, leaving Dorset passengers who wished to see the vessel disappointed.

The message continued: “Current forecasts indicate that these conditions will continue, which will impact the route of the previously planned British Isles sailing.

“Given the anticipated strong winds and adverse sea conditions, we must revise the itinerary and will be visiting Norway and Belgium instead, where conditions are forecast to be more favourable.”

Disney Fantasy left Southampton on Monday and was due to call into Cork, Liverpool, Greenock and Portland on Sunday before returning to Southampton on Monday, September 15.

The message continued: “We appreciate your understanding regarding this necessary itinerary change.

“We know this revised itinerary will provide you with an experience guests have come to know and expect from Disney Cruise Line.”

The revised call ins were at Haugesund, Olden and Stavanger in Norway and Zeebrugge for Brussels in Belgium.
