The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, signed the decree appointing Eng. Domenico BagalĂ as Extraordinary Commissioner of the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia, which manages the ports of Cagliari, Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Porto Torres, Oristano, Santa Teresa Gallura, Portovesme, and Arbatax.
The Roman ministry itself announced this with a communication, emphasizing that the temporary commissioner role aims to ensure administrative continuity and full operational capacity of the Authority until the restoration of its ordinary governing bodies.
The appointment was formally communicated to the Sardinia Region on the same date as the decree. The MIT reiterates its commitment to ensuring the managerial continuity of strategic hubs for the country and confirms the centrality of the port of Cagliari in the national logistics and infrastructure system.
Born in 1967, a native of Vibo Valentia in Calabria, Domenico BagalĂ has previously been a manager of major port terminals; he served as Managing Director of the Medcenter Container Terminal in Gioia Tauro, Calabria, during the management of Contship Italia and the Cagliari International Container Terminal.
