Ecopetrol will increase solid asphalt exports by 40% with new logistics operation

Must read

Ecopetrol began solid asphalt export operations through the Port of Cartagena, by implementing a new multimodal logistics operation that will increase product evacuation by 40%, to reach customers in the Caribbean, Central and South America.

From the Barrancabermeja Refinery, and in synergy with our operational logistics partners Big River and Bulkmatic, the first 256 tons of solid asphalt were produced, solidified, packaged, and loaded onto trucks, which were then moved to the port for shipment on a container ship bound for Chile, under quality specifications and international standards.

Through the Port of Cartagena, between 600 and 1,000 tons of this product will begin to be moved monthly, which will generate estimated benefits of USD 1.5 million per year.

This new logistics alternative will serve new markets in Latin America that do not have the logistics facilities to handle liquid asphalt. Furthermore, it leverages the development of Cartagena’s dry bulk ports, since this geographical location offers greater possibilities for shipping routes and larger vessels.
