The reduction in banana production in Central America during the first quarter of 2025, due to climatic factors in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Honduras, generated greater demand towards Ecuador from markets considered key such as the United States and the European Union.
In addition to the above, labor conflicts in the banana areas of Bocas del Toro (Panama) affected the operations of a transnational company, shifting purchases towards Ecuador. In the case of the European Union, the country increased its exports by 6.96%, while in the United States an increase of 5.80% was recorded.
