The president of Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI), Magdalena Balcells, together with the general manager, Rubén Castro Hurtado, held a working meeting with the Asociación Usuarios Zofri (AUZ), led by its president, Max Barrera Perret, and its vice president, Felipe Illanes Petersen, in addition to directors of the organization, in which they discussed issues of joint logistics and how to anticipate complex scenarios.
During the meeting, Balcells stated that “we analyzed the opportunities, challenges, and existing gaps in logistics matters, with the purpose of working jointly on initiatives that allow maintaining the regional logistics chain operational and strengthening the link between the port facility and the Zona Franca of Iquique, key players for the economy of the Tarapacá Region.”
For their part, the representatives of the AUZ highlighted the willingness of Empresa Portuaria Iquique to generate these work spaces, valuing the opportunity to learn first-hand about the challenges managed from the port that directly impact the logistics system and the activity carried out by the users of the free zone.
“The strengthening of this relationship is essential for coordination and joint work, aspects that we must deepen for the benefit of those of us who drive the economy of Tarapacá,” they stated from the AUZ.
During the session, both institutions agreed on the importance of anticipating complex scenarios, articulating joint management, and visualizing shared opportunities that allow enhancing economic activity, improving employability, and increasing regional trade.
