Must read

Within the framework of the agreement, which is implemented following the initiative of the minister, within the current school year, the training of the majority of maritime specialty educators in advanced simulators is expected, the completion of new curricula for two maritime specialty courses, as well as the production of modern educational material.

The collaboration leverages the deep experience and high-level expertise of the two entities to support education and bring the most modern technologies, methodologies, and skills into the classroom.

A common denominator is the connection of education with the real needs of society and the economy.

The Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, stated: “Together with the Eugenides Foundation and the Institute of Educational Policy, we are giving flesh and bones to a new model of linking education with the world of production, technology, and shipping—a sector where our country has a global footprint.

This is not just another theoretical approach or a simple educational design, but a substantial investment in the future of the new generation and the professional prospects of our students.

Through the evidence-based pedagogical approach of the IEP and the decades-long experience of the Eugenides Foundation, we are laying the groundwork for upgrading maritime and technical education, through teacher training, curriculum reform, and the production of modern educational material.

At the Ministry of Education, we firmly believe in technical and vocational education, as well as in cultivating skills, always guided by modern labor needs.

We support and, above all, rely on the new generation of our homeland, for a public school that offers opportunities, provides perspective, responds to the needs of the times, and prepares responsible, skilled, and optimistic citizens of tomorrow.”

For his part, the President of the Eugenides Foundation, Leonidas Dimitriadis-Eugenidis, during the signing of the cooperation memorandum, noted: “Today’s agreement comes to strengthen the timeless vision of the Eugenides Foundation: to support the new generation with the skills and knowledge required by the future.

Through this collaboration with the IEP, we are bringing innovative methods, modern programs, and cutting-edge technologies to schools, enhancing technical and maritime education, and giving our children more opportunities for personal and professional development.

Investing in the knowledge and skills of young people is the best legacy for tomorrow.”

In turn, the Director of the Eugenides Foundation, Ioannis Golias, emphasized that “through targeted strategic partnerships, we are making a new educational horizon possible: we connect technical education with tangible needs of society and the economy and contribute to the continuous improvement of maritime education at the secondary level.

The Eugenides Foundation continues, with consistency and innovation, to serve Greek society by investing in the skills of the future.”

Finally, the President of the IEP, Spyros Doukakis, mentioned that “with this new collaboration, the Institute of Educational Policy is taking another substantial step toward strengthening education, and particularly maritime education.

We are investing in our educators, modernizing curricula, and bringing the skills of the future into the school.

The ultimate beneficiaries are our students, who are entitled to an education substantially connected to society and the labor market.

In more detail, within the framework of the agreement, the main axes of cooperation include:

The implementation of the agreement involves modern learning methodologies, community practices, digital tools, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary approaches, while it begins immediately with the training of the majority of maritime specialty instructors, the completion of new curricula, and the production of educational material.

Long-term, this initiative aspires to serve as a model for upgrading other specialties in technical and vocational education, contributing to the connection between education and the real needs of society and the labor market.
