Europe is seeing a hiring boom in offshore industry AI roles

Must read

Europe was the fastest growing region for artificial intelligence (AI) hiring among offshore industry companies in the three months ending March.

The number of roles in Europe made up 26% of total AI jobs – up from 13.1% in the same quarter last year.

That was followed by North America, which saw a 10.7 year-on-year percentage point change in AI roles.

The figures are compiled by GlobalData, which tracks the number of new job postings from key companies in various sectors over time. Using textual analysis, these job advertisements are then classified thematically.

GlobalData’s thematic approach to sector activity seeks to group key company information by topic to see which companies are best placed to weather the disruptions coming to their industries. These key themes, which include AI, are chosen to cover “any issue that keeps a CEO awake at night”.

By tracking them across job advertisements, it allows us to see which companies are leading the way on specific issues and which are dragging their heels – and importantly where the market is expanding and contracting.

The fastest growing country was the US, which saw 20.6% of all AI job adverts in the three months ending March 2021, increasing to 31.6% in the three months ending March this year.

That was followed by the UK (up 5.3 percentage points), Italy (3.1), and France (2.3).

The top country for AI roles in the offshore industry is the US, which saw 31.6% of all roles advertised in the three months ending March.

Some 9% of all offshore industry AI roles were advertised in Houston (US) in the three months ending March.

That was followed by San Donato Milanese (Italy) with 4.2%, Atlanta (US) with 4%, and Budapest (Hungary) with 2.9%.
