A 67-year-old truck driver, Giuseppino Zucoli, died in a workplace accident this morning at the port of Ravenna.
The man, an employee of Ctf – Cooperativa autotrasporti Fossombrone, after getting out of his vehicle, is believed to have been run over by another truck during the loading and unloading operations of clay. The accident occurred at 6:30. It was the first truck to have entered the Terminal. 118 and Police were on the scene. The other driver is also from an external company, an Emilian one. The Terminal has been closed, the trucks are partly parked outside and partly diverted to the area used for the arrival of BMW cars from Germany, currently available.
“While waiting for the competent authorities to clarify the dynamics of the facts that today cost the life of Giuseppino Zuccoli, while he was carrying out his work inside a port terminal, I feel the need to express – stated the Commissioner of the Port System Authority of Ravenna, Francesco Benevolo – my personal sorrow and my sincere closeness to the entire family of this worker. Furthermore, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the entire port community, dramatically affected by what happened. Our commitment continues, incessant and determined, to strengthen, always and by every possible means, all actions and procedures aimed at structurally raising the levels of work safety through information, prevention, training, organization and control”.
