Feeder shipowner invests in digital tools to reduce carbon intensity

Must read

German shipowner OKEE Maritime has adopted StormGeo’s route optimisation and fleet performance management tools for its fleet of 10 feeder ships

OKEE Maritime will use weather routeing to reduce fuel consumption and emissions on its ships and has deployed StormGeo’s s-Insight to manage environmental performance, including the newly released Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) Simulator.

This platform will help OKEE Maritime meet its forecast CII ratings when IMO’s upcoming regulations come into effect and give the shipowner a competitive advantage in the market due to resulting lower operating costs.

“Our vessels are competitive, and we want them to continue to be,” said OKEE Maritime fleet manager Bastian Herkendell. “StormGeo CII Simulator supports us in determining CII ratings and finding ways to improve them through implementing operational measures.”

OKEE Maritime will receive StormGeo’s alert services as part of its fleet performance management solution. StormGeo’s fleet performance centre provides customised alerts of vessel performance, informing crew and shore-based fleet managers to allow them to improve ship-to-shore transparency and operational efficiency.

“Having transparency in our operations that includes CII tools supports us in optimising operational efficiency jointly with our charterer,” said Mr Herkendell.

“With StormGeo’s solution, OKEE can adapt to new market requirements and embrace innovation and new technologies.”
