Riyadh – Fincantieri and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding for the design, construction and maintenance of naval units, as well as for the development of dual-use offshore platforms and integrated projects in the maritime and infrastructural sector. The agreement, signed in Riyadh by the CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri Pierroberto Folgiero and by the CEO of the ministry’s Industrial Center Saleh Shabab Al-Solami, is aimed at “promoting the development of an advanced, sustainable and high-tech maritime ecosystem, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030”: “It represents a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Italy and Saudi Arabia in the industrial and technological field, – Fincantieri underlines in a note – promoting the transfer of skills and know-how to support the Kingdom’s industrial transformation and diversification process in the long term”. The partnership also includes close coordination with specialized companies, academic institutions and research centers, under the aegis of the Saudi Industrial Center. “The agreement represents a fundamental step in our long-term strategy in Saudi Arabia – explains Folgiero -. By uniting Fincantieri’s global expertise with the industrial vision of the Kingdom, we are ready to build an advanced and sustainable maritime ecosystem, in line with the objectives of ‘Vision 2030’. We want to continue to be protagonists of Saudi Arabia’s industrial transformation, investing in the development of local skills and the creation of an innovative and autonomous supply chain. We want to generate lasting value for future generations and for the economies of both countries”.
