Finnlines, a subsidiary of the Grimaldi group in Northern Europe and the Baltic, has presented its freight service between Bilbao and the Polish port of Gdynia. The presentation was attended by Blasco Majorana, Finnlines Line Manager, Ivan Jiménez Aira, president of the Bilbao Port Authority, and Monika Krzepkowska, ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Spain, among others. “This new route strengthens the connections between the north and west of Europe and opens new opportunities for more efficient and sustainable freight transport and constitutes a cost-effective and practical intermodal alternative to road transport,” said Finnlines’ Line Manager, Blasco Majorana.

For her part, the ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Monika Krzepkowska, stated that “from now on we can celebrate a modern maritime connection between Gdynia and Bilbao, practically uniting the two ends of Europe.” She also added that “this route represents much more than a logistical link, but rather a commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly transport, a commitment to an integrated economy and a truly interconnected Europe where distances are reduced and opportunities are multiplied,” stated Monika Krzepkowska.

Finally, the president of the Bilbao Port Authority, Ivan Jiménez Aira, stated that “this ro-ro connection with Poland represents a great opportunity for companies seeking to expand their presence in the Central European market, while allowing operators to diversify their routes,” said the president from Bilbao.
