A fire broke out on Saturday September 17th at an oil terminal in Venezuela when a hose used for supplying gasoline to a tanker broke loose, according to Venezuelan oil minister Tareck El Aissami, quoted by Reuters.
The fire erupted early on Saturday at one of Guaraguao terminal’s berths, located on Venezuela’s eastern coast, and was extinguished shortly after, but also affected Panama-flagged oil products tanker Larko (IMO 9225330) and interrupted the terminal’s operations, according to shipping sources.
No injuries wre reported and the affected vessel was moved away from the terminal, the sources said.
The Guaraguao terminal, operated by state company PDVSA, mostly handles fuel for domestic use.
2001-built, Panama-flagged, 23,680 gt Larko is owned by Dorado Marine SA care of manager Asia Charm Fze of Fujairah, UAE. It is entered with West of England (Greece claims team) on behalf of Dorado Marine SA. As of September 17th it was moored at Puerto de la Cruz, Venezuela.
