Fire broke up in cargo hold of bulk carrier DE SHENG 1 at Durban, SAR, on Dec 29. It was probably, not so much fire, as thick smoke billowing from hold, and visible in areas surrounding port. It is said, that the plywood used to separate cargo, soda, ash, somehow started to smolder, emitting a lot of smoke. As of Dec 30, all cargo operations were suspended, the ship is monitored by emergency services. Crew left the ship, according to local sources. AIS is on. DE SHENG 1 arrived from China via Singapore, on Dec 20.
