At 11:00 AM on September 9th, Hong Kong Zhoushan Yi Hai Company, a subsidiary of Zhejiang New One Sea Shipping Co., Ltd., held a grand handover ceremony for the 64,000 DWT international bulk carrier “ZY DONGSHA” in Lianyungang. The successful delivery of this vessel not only marks a significant expansion of the company’s fleet capacity but also represents a crucial step in deepening the reform of its asset structure and exploring a light-asset operation model.
With the official entry of the “ZY DONGSHA” into operation, the total capacity of Zhejiang New One Sea Shipping Co., Ltd.’s international bulk fleet has exceeded 870,000 deadweight tons. The company now has actual control over a fleet of 30 vessels totaling 1.29 million DWT, achieving a historic leap in comprehensive transportation capacity and further consolidating its advantageous position in the domestic and international dry bulk shipping markets.
The “ZY DONGSHA” is an ULTRAMAX bulk carrier built by Shin Kasado Dockyard of Japan and completed in July 2018. The vessel has a length of 199.8 meters, a width of 32.24 meters, a depth of 19.15 meters, a gross tonnage of 35,834 tons, and a deadweight tonnage of 63,514 tons. It currently flies the Marshall Islands flag of convenience and is classed by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK).
As the first vessel introduced by the company through an operating lease, the successful deployment of the “ZY DONGSHA” is a significant breakthrough for Zhejiang New One Sea Shipping in advancing its light-asset operation model. Subsequently, the vessel will depart from a Chinese coastal port, fully loaded with general cargo bound for the Middle East, to carry out its maiden voyage. This move not only effectively alleviates the investment pressure associated with the traditional heavy-asset model and improves capital allocation and usage efficiency but also significantly enhances the company’s flexibility in capacity deployment and market response. It lays a solid foundation for continuously optimizing the fleet structure, expanding new market routes, and enhancing core competitiveness.
In recent years, Zhejiang New One Sea Shipping Co., Ltd. has adhered to strategic guidance, actively expanded its global shipping network, continuously optimized its fleet structure, innovated operation and management models, and driven improvements in both service quality and operational efficiency. It has gradually built an international bulk fleet primarily composed of 64,000 DWT and 85,000 DWT vessels, as well as an international chemical fleet mainly consisting of 20,000 DWT vessels. The smooth integration of the “ZY DONGSHA” is not only a vivid illustration of the company’s continuously growing international and professional operation capabilities but also fully demonstrates its increasingly卓越 (excellent) competitiveness and extensive influence in the global dry bulk shipping market.
In the future, Zhejiang New One Sea Shipping will take the delivery of the “ZY DONGSHA” as a new starting point. It will persist in adopting multiple measures including “purchasing, building, and leasing,” continue to deepen innovations in the light-asset operation model, accelerate the layout of its global shipping network, and strive to build a modern shipping enterprise with first-class international competitiveness. This effort will inject new momentum and make new contributions to the implementation of the maritime power strategy and the high-quality development of the regional economy.
