Fratelli Cosulich has launched the Maya Cosulich, a methanol dual-fuel IMO II chemical bunker tanker that will operate in the Port of Singapore under a time charter with TFG Marine from late 2025, the company said in a statement.
The 7,990-deadweight-tonne vessel was built at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard in China and designed by SeaTech Solutions International. It is equipped with diesel-electric propulsion, onboard battery storage, and two mass flow meters.
The tanker has been developed in line with Singapore’s new TR 129 methanol bunkering standard and corresponding Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) requirements.
Kenneth Dam, Global Head of Bunkering at TFG Marine, said the vessel “has been designed to our technical specifications, including stringent safety considerations, so that it can be continually powered by methanol,” adding that its delivery in late 2025 should align with rising demand for methanol as a bunker fuel.
The tanker has twin fixed-pitch propellers driven by electric motors via gearboxes and three MAN dual-fuel generator sets. The onboard battery system is intended to optimise generator use during operations.
