French government shortlists 13 consortia for Mediterranean floaters

The authorities in France have shortlisted the consortia who will proceed to the next phase of the AO6 tender for up to 1.5 GW of floating wind capacity in the Mediterranean

 

The bidders have been prequalified for two 250-MW projects in the Golfe Du Lion. The projects are due to be extended in size to 750 MW in due course. The Golfe Du Lion is an area extending along the coast of southern France from the Spanish border to Toulon.

The call for tenders was launched in March 2022. The companies selected will now move to the competitive dialogue phase, which is due to be completed by the end of 2022.

The winning tenders will be announced in autumn 2023 and the windfarms are due to be commissioned in 2030.

The 13 consortia selected to proceed to the competitive dialogue phase include one formed by BlueFloat Energy, Sumitomo Corporation and Akuo Energy.

Also selected to proceed to the competitive dialogue phase are Eolienne Occitanie Grand Large and Eolienne Méditerranée Grand Large, led by EDF Renewables and Maple Power (a joint venture of Enbridge and CPPIB).

Others include BayWa re – Elicio Group; Océole, a partnership between Equinor and Iberdrola; Ocean Winds, the joint venture between ENGIE and EDPR; and a team comprising RWE and Bourbon.

Also moving to the next phase of the tender are Les Moulins du leonis, a partnership between Shell and EnBW; Marine Energy Archipelago, a partnership between Qair, TotalEnergies and Corio Generation; a consortium led by wpd; Vattenfall; Cobra Installations and Services; and Eni Plenitude.
