On August 6, two 12,000-ton self-propelled barges (/8) built by Funing Heavy Industry under Fujian Shipbuilding Group successfully commenced construction. On the same day, the sister ship of this series, the 12,000-ton self-propelled barge (MW716-2), was smoothly placed on the berth.
The vessel has an overall length of 119.9 meters, a beam of 30 meters, a depth of 7.15 meters, a design draft of 4.96 meters, and a maximum draft of 4.96 meters. It accommodates 16 crew members, with a service speed of 10.3 knots and a deadweight of approximately 12,200 tons at maximum draft. It is classified for unlimited navigation areas. The vessel is primarily used for transporting bauxite, iron ore lumps, iron ore powder, coal, sand, and general bulk cargo, and is classed by the China Classification Society.
