Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) signed a contract for the purchase of an Ultramax bulk carrier of approximately 63,500 DWT (deadweight tons) with a completion date of October 30, 2025.
The ship, built in Japan in 2019, is expected to join the company’s fleet in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026. The acquisition of the vessel will be financed entirely through internal resources.
The objective of the purchase, the company states, is the expansion of the fleet. The company’s vessel list comprises 41 ships, of which 27 are tankers (six crude, 17 product tankers and four LPG) and 14 bulk carriers, with a total of 3.37 million DWT.
The company’s current capacity utilization is close to 100%.
In addition, G E Shipping closed a contract for the sale of one of its Suezmax crude oil tankers and a Medium Range product tanker. These two sale transactions are expected to be finalized in the third quarter of fiscal year 2026.
