Galveston LNG Bunker Port (GLBP) has signed a letter of intent with Loa Carbon to produce and supply e-LNG at its upcoming Texas City facility, expanding its services beyond traditional LNG bunkering.

Under the agreement, Loa Carbon will provide e-methane to GLBP’s Texas City terminal, where it will be converted into e-LNG for use as marine fuel, GLBP announced in a statement on its website Tuesday.

The GLBP facility will deliver e-LNG via bunker barges to the increasing number of LNG-powered vessels operating in the Houston-Galveston region.

GLBP recently received final regulatory approval from U.S. authorities for its LNG bunker port project, with operations slated to commence by 2028.

“This collaboration with Loa Carbon allows GLBP to provide low-carbon e-LNG to customers seeking sustainable fuel solutions,” said Jonathan Cook, CEO of Pilot LNG.

“GLBP will be the first LNG bunker fuel supplier in North America to offer e-LNG.”

GLBP is a joint venture between Seapath Group and Pilot LNG.
