Gateway Terminals India promotes port skills development

Must read

Aligned with the Government of India’s “Skill India Programme” and Union Budget 2025’s employment goals, this initiative aims to empower the local community, enhance employability, and promote diversity in port operations.

Hosted at GTI, the programme will offer vocational training in areas such as safety, maintenance, planning, and equipment operations, creating a job-ready workforce with a strong focus on inclusion.

The programme aims to educate and train individuals affected by port development projects (PAP), while offering industry-aligned, high-quality training to promising candidates.

Shri Unmesh Wagh – Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), said: “This initiative not only provides valuable opportunities for our local community but also demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion within the port sector.

“We are proud to partner with GTI in this endeavour, which will undoubtedly contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of the local community and foster a more representative workforce.”

Jon Goldner, Managing Director Asia & Middle East APM Terminals, stated: “Upskilling and training are a core part of our global value proposition, and initiatives like this skill development programme in India underline that commitment.”

In August 2024, APM Terminals (APMT) Mumbai signed a MoU to begin piloting shore power supply in partnership with JNPA.
