Dublin-based Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG), now part of Venterra Group, is entering the offshore wind market in Japan in a joint venture with two Japanese companies
The Irish company has formed joint ventures with Geo Marine Service Co Ltd and Nikken Sekkei Ltd tooffer survey specification, wind turbine foundation design and certification process support to the Japanese market.
Speaking at the recent signing of agreements between the partners, GDG founder and Venterra Group executive vice president of engineering Paul Doherty said, “We are experts at finding innovative engineering solutions to support some of challenging offshore wind projects.
“We look forward to building on our current base of foundation design projects in Japan and are delighted to partner with Japanese organisations who have invaluable local knowledge of the marine regulatory regime, grid and development procedures.”
Geo Marine Service representative director Ken Yoshizumi said, “Our aim is to offer solutions for challenges by combining our experience in onshore wind with GDG andNikken Sekkei Ltd,who can introduce the latest international technologies and knowhow.
“We are fully committed to supporting the needs of the Japanese market through competitive foundation design work.”
