The maritime and legal communities are proud to celebrate Mrs. Georgia Demetriou, Legal Director of OSM Thome, who has been recognised by The Legal 500 in its Powerlist 2025 as one of the most distinguished General Counsel and in-house legal leaders in Greece and Cyprus.

The announcement was marked by an evening of recognition, insight, and networking at the iconic Zappeio in Athens on the 9th of October. Organised by The Legal 500 in association with Anderson and Ioannides Demetriou, the event continued its tradition of celebrating outstanding legal professionals who have demonstrated innovation, influence, and strategic impact within their organisations.

As a top-tier shipping lawyer, Georgia has been instrumental in some of the most important milestones in the maritime industry. She played a leading role in the landmark merger between OSM and Thome—the largest ship management merger in history—and in the group’s strategic partnership with new investors, J.P. Morgan.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Georgia is deeply committed to the advancement of the maritime community. She serves as a lecturer in Maritime Studies at Frederick University and has been an active member of the Board of Directors of WISTA Cyprus for the past seven years, currently holding the role of Secretary General. A passionate advocate for equality diversity, and inclusion, she consistently works to empower women and promote equal opportunities in the maritime sector.

Balancing an exceptional professional journey with her role as a devoted mother to Nicolas and Marina, Georgia exemplifies the qualities of leadership, dedication, and balance that define today’s most inspiring industry figures.

Her recognition in GC Legal 500 Powerlist 2025 is a testament to her influence, expertise, and unwavering commitment—not only to OSM Thome but to the broader evolution of the global shipping industry.
