Israeli liner company ZIM has hired a car vessel from Gram Car Carriers for a period of five years at a price of nearly USD 56m.

Norwegian shipowner Gram Car Carriers has signed a five-year charter contract on a car carrying vessel with Israeli container line ZIM for a total price of USD 55.8m, according to a statement.
The agreement pertains to vessel Viking Sea with a capacity of 4,200 car equivalent units (ceu) and will terminate in the fourth quarter of 2027.
The ship is currently on charter with a subsidiary of ZIM for a 12-month period, sailing between Asia and Europe until October, after which the new contract will commence.
According to the statement, the contract was signed at an average day rate of USD 30,612.
