The International Oil Companies Marine Forum (OCIMF) gathers industry best practices, but refrains from setting lifespan limits on STS equipment, leaving greater responsibility to shipowners and the manufacturer market.
The CEO of DYNAMARINe Dr. Alexandros Glykas emphasized that operators will now need to develop “more advanced procedures in STS plans,” as OCIMF also highlighted in a recent post. Concurrently, DYNAMARINe, which conducts risk analysis on STS operations, has incorporated measures that enhance the safety of its enrolled vessels, however it estimates that the remaining operators will require significant resources to adapt.
