On October 31, the new generation explosive cargo transport vessel “Chang’an No.1”, undertaken by CSSC Guangzhou Company, designed by CSSC 605 Research Institute, and built by CSSC Guijiang Shipbuilding for the Hong Kong Civil Engineering and Development Department, was successfully launched in Wuzhou. Attending the launching ceremony were Wang Xuejun, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of CSSC Guangzhou Company; Chen Lei, Deputy General Manager of CSSC Guangxi Company; Sun Tieniu, Vice President of CSSC 605 Research Institute; Wan Lihong, General Manager of CSSC Guijiang Shipbuilding; Zeng Wenyan, Deputy General Manager of CCSI Guangzhou Branch; as well as relevant responsible persons from the Hong Kong Marine Department, RINA, and other units.
This vessel is the first of two new explosive transport ships built by CSSC Guangzhou Company for the Hong Kong Marine Department, following the first-generation “Chang’an No.1” and “Chang’an No.2” delivered in 1998. The new generation “Chang’an No.1” is a monohull high-speed Class 1 dangerous goods transport vessel, with an overall length of 33 meters, a beam of 7 meters, a depth of 3.5 meters, and a deadweight tonnage of 12.5 tons, classed with RINA. Compared to the first-generation explosive transport ships from 27 years ago, the new generation “Chang’an No.1” achieves comprehensive upgrades in overall performance, green environmental protection, intelligent navigation, and cargo safety.
Since the first cooperation in 1998, the explosive transport ships organized and built by CSSC Guangzhou Company have continuously provided reliable services for the Hong Kong Civil Engineering and Development Department. The launch of the new generation “Chang’an No.1” marks a new starting point for cooperation between the two sides. Upon completion, the vessel will be put into operation in Hong Kong waters, providing more efficient, environmentally friendly, and intelligent services for Class 1 dangerous goods transport.
