Hadley Shipping targets improved welfare, efficiency with satcoms upgrade

Hadley Shipping is upgrading satellite communications on its fleet to enhance operations and improve crew welfare

Under Anglo-Eastern’s technical management, Hadley Shipping is installing Inmarsat Maritime’s NexusWave bonded connectivity to improve cyber security, crew welfare and the efficiency of its fleet operations.

Hadley Shipping has selected the Viasat subsidiary’s multi-band satellite communications suite to meet future requirements for ship connectivity. The UK-based family controlled shipping company owns and manages three bulk carriers, four roro vessels, 2023-built, 1,728 TEU container ship Celandine and 2011-built product tanker Cepolis.

NexusWave combines high-speed connectivity, resilient bonded networks and seamless global coverage using geostationary orbit (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations, coastal mobile phone networks and enterprise-grade cyber security.

“Unlimited data is a key benefit of Inmarsat’s NexusWave, but our decision to invest goes beyond just bandwidth,” said Hadley Shipping director of operations Sunit Das. “This upgrade supports our long-term goals for operational efficiency and crew well-being,” he said.

“With the built-in cyber security and our confidence in Inmarsat’s capabilities, NexusWave enables us to future-proof our fleet as maritime data and connectivity demands evolve.”

Anglo-Eastern will technically manage the rollout of NexusWave across its fleet. It advocates digital innovation at sea by implementing this multi-orbit connectivity across a range of vessels under its management.
