Norwegian Viva’s 2023 introduction was pushed back seven weeks, to Aug. 26, with Norwegian Cruise Line citing supply chain issues.

‘Given the global supply chain constraints impacting industries worldwide, including the maritime industry, Norwegian Viva’s delivery has been delayed and we must cancel her sailings from July 3, 2023 through and including Aug. 17, 2023,’ a Norwegian spokesperson said.

Norwegian Viva’s first cruise on Aug. 26 will be a nine-day Italy, Greece and Croatia itinerary embarking at Civitavecchia (Rome) and ending at Trieste.

Norwegian Getaway assumes itineraries

Norwegian Getaway will be repositioned to take over Norwegian Viva’s canceled European voyages. Impacted passengers who rebook on Getaway will receive a 20% discount. Or they can requesta full refund.

Passengers choosing either option will additionally receive a 10% discount available as of Aug. 22, 2022, and valid for sailings from Aug. 28, 2023 through Dec. 31, 2024.

Norwegian Viva was recently floated out at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard.

Norwegian Prima inaugural imminent

Sister Norwegian Prima, first of the new Prima class, is scheduled to be named in Reykjavik, Iceland, Aug. 27 by Katy Perry before sailing a christening cruise to Amsterdam.
