Huisman has reached an important milestone in the development of a new jacking system for the offshore renewables market
The company has successfully completed factory acceptance tests (FATs) for the first Huisman jacking gearbox, which will be part of the system.
The jacking system, available in a range of models, is specifically designed for wind turbine installation jack-ups. It includes aproprietary control system which optimises load distribution for turbine and foundation installation.
Huisman teamed up with its long-term supplier of gearboxes, O&K Antriebstechnik, part of the Bonfiglioli Group, to develop the new system.
Two versions of the new jacking system will be available, the L and XL version. The jacking system will cater for static pinion loads of up to 800 tonnes (L) or 1,000 tonnes (XL).
It has a flexible suspension method and the potential to achieve leg preload capacities exceeding 30,000 tonnes, depending on leg layout.
