On July 28, Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Yuchai Marine Power”) held a grand groundbreaking ceremony for its ammonia fuel supply station project in Zhuhai. As the exclusive supplier of the project’s core module—the ammonia fuel supply system—Headway Technology Group (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Headway Technology”) was invited to attend. This marks another significant milestone following the signing of the ammonia fuel supply system cooperation agreement between the two parties in November 2024, signaling the official transition of the project into the construction phase.
At the ceremony, Li Xupeng, Chairman of Yuchai Marine Power, Deng Hui, General Manager, and Liu Yudong, Executive President of Headway Technology, jointly participated in the groundbreaking, ushering in a new chapter in the application of green energy in the shipping industry.

It is reported that Headway Technology will provide Yuchai Marine Power’s ammonia fuel supply station project with a complete ammonia fuel supply system solution, including ammonia fuel storage tanks, ammonia fuel supply modules, unloading compressors, ammonia fuel transfer pumps, ammonia vapor treatment systems, combustible gas detection, and double-walled piping. The test platform is compatible with ammonia-fueled engines from two major licensors, WinGD and Everllence. Additionally, Headway will adopt the **EPC model**, overseeing the entire lifecycle process from project engineering design, civil construction, equipment manufacturing, to installation and commissioning, delivering a one-stop “turnkey” service.

The OceanGuard® Ammonia Fuel Supply System builds on Headway’s technological strengths in methanol, LNG, and LPG fuel supply systems. The system features a modular design and a dual-redundant safety architecture, offering customized solutions tailored to different vessel types. The solution is flexible, efficient, reliable, and supports one-click startup and self-diagnosis for faults. Utilizing Headway’s proprietary pressure stabilization design, the system ensures adaptability to sudden load changes in the engine, maintaining controllable pressure fluctuations under all operating conditions. Currently, the system has received Approval in Principle (AIP) certificates from classification societies CCS, DNV, and RINA, and has successfully completed real-ship integration of key components for WinGD’s ammonia-fueled engines.
