The International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) has launched a new products portal featuring safety tools for alternative marine fuels, including what it claims is an industry-first publicly available bunker checklist for ammonia as a fuel.

The IAPH Clean Marine Fuels Working Group has developed the ammonia checklist alongside updated combined liquid gas bunker checklists for LNG and liquefied hydrogen, according to the port association. The tools also include a fuel-agnostic terminal call checklist for ship-shore operations and a Clean Marine Fuels Ready Tool for terminals receiving ships propelled by new fuels.

The new portal consolidates tools developed by IAPH’s technical committees covering energy transition, digitalisation, and risk and resilience for ports since 2022.

“Since the formation of the technical committees covering the energy transition, digitalisation, and risk and resilience for ports, our members have been prolific in what they have produced for the global port and maritime community,” IAPH Managing Director Patrick Verhoeven commented. “This new products portal consolidates those tools in one place, with many of these products available in the public domain.”

While IAPH regular and associate members have access to all tools through the secure members’ portal, additional products including those produced by the Clean Marine Fuels Working Group are available on a payment publications platform.

The portal contains the entire suite of IAPH products developed in partnership with UN agencies, industry associations, and industry peers, making them accessible to the wider ports and maritime supply chain community beyond IAPH membership.
