Must read

The arrival highlights how BGT can accommodate ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs), supported by ongoing infrastructure investments and the addition of three post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.

With modern facilities and a skilled workforce, BGT has become Iraq’s busiest and highest-performing multipurpose terminal under ICTSI’s management.

The terminal, with six berths and advanced technology, is the only one in Umm Qasr capable of handling 16,000-TEU vessels.

In May 2023, the terminal handled 4 million TEU after nine years of operation. The record volume was achieved during the recent unloading operation on the Yang Ming vessel YM MUTUALITY.

More recently, BGT received a newKonecranesGottwald ESP.8 mobile harbour crane. This new acquisition is part of the terminal’s ongoing commitment to modernising Iraq’s busiest port and providing customers with dependable, sustainable service.
