Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has been fully accelerating the construction of major transportation projects, promoting cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancement in transportation and logistics. In the first three quarters, 80% of the annual transportation investment plan has been completed, ensuring the target task of achieving 230 billion yuan in transportation investment for the full year.
In the first three quarters, the province completed fixed asset investment in transportation of 185.8 billion yuan, accounting for 80.8% of the annual investment plan, exceeding the scheduled progress.
The Jiangsu section of the Shuixiang Tourist Line intercity railway and other projects have commenced construction; all projects listed as major provincial projects for the year have started construction. The Ningyang Yangtze River Bridge and the Changtai Yangtze River Bridge have officially opened for operation; the Xuzhou Eastern Ring Expressway and others have commenced operation; the Nanjing Xianxin Road River-Crossing Passage is set to be completed and open to traffic within the year. The “Water Transport Jiangsu” initiative is accelerating, with the Sulian Channel scheduled to be completed as a Class III waterway by the end of this month, and construction of the Class II waterway to begin simultaneously; the remediation of the Class II waterway in the Wuxi section of the Southern Jiangsu Canal and the expansion and renovation of the Jianbi First Line Ship Lock have been completed and accepted, with the remaining sections to be ensured for completion within the year, achieving 2000-ton vessel navigation on the Jiangsu section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
In the first three quarters, the province’s highway freight turnover and waterway freight turnover increased by 7.1% and 9.5% year-on-year, respectively, both higher than the national average.
The province stably operates over 150 multimodal transport routes, actively stabilizes international transport channels, and has opened and increased frequency of foreign routes. As of the end of September, the province operates 90 international container routes, an increase of 15 since the beginning of the year; 40 international passenger routes and 16 freight routes are in operation, with freight routes increasing by 7 since the beginning of the year.
