Iquique Terminal Internacional receives Quantification and Reduction seals

Must read

Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) was distinguished by the Huella Chile Program of the Ministry of the Environment with the Quantification and Reduction seals, in recognition of its management in measuring and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, corresponding to the 2024 period.

The award ceremony was led by the Minister of the Environment, Maisa Rojas, and brought together various organizations committed to climate action.

Representing ITI, the Environmental Coordinator, Jocelyne Ramírez, received the certificates that accredit the terminal’s sustained work in this area.

“Measuring our carbon footprint allows us to comply with environmental regulations, but it is also a strategic tool that contributes to competitiveness and positions us at the forefront in the Tarapacá Region. This recognition is an incentive to continue advancing in sustainability, both for our company and for the communities with which we interact,” highlighted Ramírez.

Since 2014, ITI has been calculating its carbon footprint, considering three categories: emissions from consumption of fuels purchased by the organization, use of electrical energy, indirect emissions generated by third parties, such as the leasing of equipment for port operations.
