Irish outfit plans venture into service operation vessel market

Cobh, Ireland-based ORT Offshore has announced plans to enter the service operation vessel (SOV) market

The newly-formed company is in the early phases of what it said would be a three-year project to design and build an SOV for the fast-growing floating wind sector.

ORT Offshore was founded specifically to build, own and manage SOVs to support construction and maintenance of floating windfarms off the Irish, Welsh and Scottish coasts.

ORT Offshore managing director John O’Regan said, “We are currently in the test phase with various vessel design options and shipyards.”

The ORT Offshore team has more than 40 years combined experience in the marine sector. Mr O’Reganhas been working in ship ownership and management for 35 years. He has championed the Irish Flag and registration of vessels under the Irish flag.

The company’s finance director Matthew Traceyhas eight years of experience in finance and capital markets, working on asset and project finance transactions.
