Jiangsu Ocean Shipping “Nanjing-Jakarta” Container Route Officially Launched

Must read

On October 25, the Jiangsu Provincial Port Group’s Jiangsu Ocean Shipping “Nanjing-Jakarta” container route was officially launched. The vessel “Jiang Yuan Yuan Rui”, fully loaded with goods such as industrial raw materials, home appliances, and electronic products, departed from Nanjing for the Port of Jakarta, Indonesia, marking the full opening of another direct near-sea channel targeting the Southeast Asia region. The launch of this route establishes a “new maritime corridor” connecting Jiangsu to the ASEAN market. It is a powerful measure by the Jiangsu Provincial Port Group to deepen the RCEP regional network layout and a key step in accelerating the Group’s efforts to build Jiangsu Ocean Shipping into a leading local shipping enterprise.

The newly launched Indonesia route uses Nanjing and Taicang as ports of origin, operating with a twice-monthly frequency directly to Jakarta. It efficiently connects Southeast Asian and South Asian ports such as Port Klang, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam, ultimately looping back to Nanjing and Taicang, establishing a new Southeast Asia logistics channel with stronger timeliness, more stable service, and broader coverage. By optimizing route design and cargo organization, vessel utilization is maximized. Cross-regional cargo transshipment and exchange are achieved at Port Klang, significantly enhancing the route’s flexibility and market coverage capabilities. This precisely serves the strong trade flow between China and emerging manufacturing and consumer markets like Indonesia and India, helps local enterprises optimize their supply chain layout and expand new foreign trade space, and injects new momentum into the high-quality development of Jiangsu’s open economy.

Currently, the three main trunk lines opened by Jiangsu Ocean Shipping – the Indonesia route, the East India route, and the Thailand-Vietnam route – are interwoven into a network, becoming strategic pivots for Jiangsu Ocean Shipping’s layout in the emerging markets of the “Belt and Road”. This network breaks through the limitations of single-line operations, forming a progressive development pattern of “deepening the Southeast Asia base, breaking new ground for growth in Indonesia, and exploring the large East India market,” thereby building a new logistics ecosystem covering the entire region. Through route linkage and resource integration, it not only enhances Jiangsu Ocean Shipping’s cargo consolidation capabilities and supply chain resilience but also provides strong network support for the Group’s expansion into the RCEP regional market.

In the future, the Jiangsu Provincial Port Group will use the Indonesia route as a strategic support, strengthen coordinated development with ports, deeply integrate into the global shipping system, optimize the international route layout, and provide efficient and stable logistics services for provincial enterprises through more professional and efficient end-to-end supply chain services, assisting Jiangsu in building a two-way open hub with global convergence power.
