Jumbo Offshore has begun Transport & Installation for the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm 2022 campaign. The Jumbo Javelin heavy load carrier is now installing the first of thirty transition pieces, after being loaded in Singapore.
The 82km² Yulin offshore wind farm is located 8 to 17 kilometres off the west coast of Taiwan, in the Taiwan straits. It is being developed by Yunneng Wind Power, a subsidiary of wpd offshore and of GmbH.
The project will comprise 80 wind turbine generators. Each weighs 450 metric tonnes. Jumbo Offshore’s scope is to transport & install 80 of them in total for this wind farm. Some have already been installed by Jumbo Offshore in 2021. Jumbo estimates that the installation will be halfway completed by the end of 2022.
Once completed, the electricity generated by this 640 MW wind farm will be fed into the Taiwanese grid through two onshore substations at Taixi and Sihu Townships, generating power for 605,000 Households.
